Mobile A/C Repair & Service
So, your A/C isn’t blowing cold anymore. What’s next?
Maybe it’s blowing warm all the time. Maybe it gets cold while you’re driving but warms up at idle. Maybe the air starts cold and gradually gets warmer, or you hear a strange noise whenever you turn the A/C on.
The first step isn’t automatically adding refrigerant or replacing a compressor. A/C problems need to be diagnosed before parts are replaced.
N&H Repair provides mobile automotive A/C repair and service throughout Asheville and the surrounding area. We can diagnose the system, identify what’s actually causing the problem, and perform the repairs that can reasonably be completed on-site.
Your vehicle’s air conditioning system is a closed system that uses refrigerant, oil, electrical controls, a compressor, condenser, expansion device, and evaporator to move heat out of the passenger compartment.
When everything is working correctly, the system should produce cold air consistently and maintain appropriate pressures across different operating conditions.
When it doesn’t, the cause isn’t always obvious.
Low refrigerant can indicate a leak. A compressor can fail mechanically or electrically. A condenser fan can stop working. A pressure sensor can provide incorrect information to the control system. An expansion valve can restrict refrigerant flow. Even something as simple as an electrical or control problem can keep a perfectly good compressor from operating.
That’s why A/C repair isn’t just an “add Freon” service.
At N&H Repair, we don’t want to replace a $500 compressor when the actual problem is a $30 electrical component.
We’ll start by figuring out what the system is actually doing.
Depending on the symptoms, that can include checking:
- A/C compressor operation
- Refrigerant pressures
- Compressor clutch or electronic compressor control
- Condenser and radiator fan operation
- A/C pressure sensors
- Electrical power and grounds
- HVAC controls and related circuits
- Refrigerant leaks
- Temperature changes through the system
- Unusual compressor or belt noises
- System performance at idle and while operating
The goal is to determine why the A/C isn’t working, not simply identify the most obvious component and start replacing parts.
Once we’ve identified the failure, we’ll explain what needs to be repaired and why.
N&H Repair can help with a wide range of automotive A/C concerns, including:
- A/C blowing warm air
- Weak or inconsistent A/C
- A/C cold while driving but warm at idle
- A/C works intermittently
- A/C compressor not engaging
- A/C compressor electrical problems
- Refrigerant leaks
- Low refrigerant
- A/C pressure problems
- Condenser fan problems
- A/C pressure sensor faults
- Compressor control problems
- A/C electrical diagnosis
- Unusual A/C compressor noises
- HVAC control problems
- A/C system performance testing
- Refrigerant recovery and recharge
- A/C system evacuation and recharge
We work on cars, trucks, and SUVs from a wide range of manufacturers.
A broken A/C can be more than an inconvenience, especially during a North Carolina summer.
Instead of figuring out how to get a car with a mechanical or electrical problem to a shop, N&H Repair comes to the vehicle.
That’s particularly useful when:
- Your vehicle isn’t drivable
- You don’t want to wait at a shop
- You need the problem diagnosed before deciding what to do
- The vehicle is at home or at work
- You want to understand the problem before authorizing an expensive repair
Mobile service also means we can diagnose the vehicle where the problem actually occurs. If your A/C only acts up at idle, for example, that’s something worth testing rather than assuming it will behave the same way inside a shop.
